For most of his time there he ran a global derivatives quants team, based in London and then in New York. He moved to the New York office of Commerzbank AG in 2001, initially as head of the Americas derivatives quants team and subsequently running the Americas structuring desk.

In 2005 Simon returned to the North West of England and since then has worked as a freelance derivatives and structuring expert. He has a BSc (Hons) from the University of Bath, is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Manchester, and assists with lecturing and student supervision on the University of Manchester’s Business School’s Quantitative Finance and Financial Engineering Masters programme.
